Club Member Advice Days
Our advice days have been a great success with nearly 50 riders
booking in to receive advice and encouragement from our volunteers.
The adult and junior attendees who ranged from 60+ year old
beginners to aspiring Clubmen all benefited from the advice
given by our volunteer riders such as Club: Champion Expert
Steve Rees, Champion Inter Ben King, Champion 50/50 Dave Burk,
Champion Novice Chris Tesseras, Champion Youth "A"
Will McBain, Expert Matt Leferve, Inter Tim King, Clubmen Dave
Millers, Nick Boxall, Steve Southwood and Gary Horwood, Pre65B
Arthur Tomkinson and Youth 50/50 Jamie Millers. Together with
someone I am sure we all aspire to ride like Expert All-Rounder
Chris Koch.
My thanks to all of the above who are among the people who make
this club work and are willing to give up their time to share
their experience and to give advice whilst standing around in
the recent winter weather of south England.
We had eight junior riders at the last session aged between
nine and sixteen and all showed a marked improvement in their
riding skills and confidence. All the riders both adult and
youth gained knowledge and confidence from the valuable advice
given by the riders above and can now apply these new skills
to their own practice and trial riding.
The advice days are aimed at raw beginners, Youth "B",
"C" and "D", people who are happy riding
in the "blue markers" trial riding group of sportsmen
and pre65B but wish to increase their skills and people who
want to aspire to raising their skill levels to allow them to
ride in the "red markers" as a Novice.
We have not forgotten or ignored other groups within the club
and we are planning that later in the year we will arrange something,
the form of which has not been finalised.
If you are interested in attending an advice day, either as
someone who would be willing to pass on their experience or
someone wishing to receive advice please contact me. Keep a
look out in the Goatherd and on our internet site for the next
date.
You "must" book a place so please contact Mike Dunks
on dunksfam@yahoo.co.uk giving information
on what group you currently ride in and what you want to get
from the session and wish to aspire to.
If you are a youth rider you must have signed permission from
your parents.
The session starts at 9.00am and finishes at 12.00 noon. We
usually stop around 10.00am for refreshments for both bike and
riders for 15 minutes or so.
All riders must confirm that they are members of Berkhamsted
MC and CC and have paid the required fee to ride at Nash Mills
practice ground.
We do not charge for this advice but request a donation to the
club of £10 per adult, £5 per teenager but youth
12 or below are free.
If you wish to go on to compete, you must have an ACU licence.
