August 2008 Construction Photographs
Throughout August club members have turned up to help Ted North continue the construction of the clubhouse. The roof and slates are now on and the fascia board has all been treated, the team then worked on the exterior cladding which is to be painted, the underneath required waterproofing by hanging plastic sheeting after the fixing batterns had been put on. The inside of the building has been cleared in ready for the floors ceilings and plastering to be done. We are now waiting for Ray Haslam to come in and complete this stage before the doors can be hung and the building made secure.

End of April 2008 construction update

As you can see from the photographs here that progress is being made and the roof is now well under construction. Click on any photograph to enlarge:-

Roof Construction by end of April 2008

Saturday 5th April construction update.
Another fine run of weather has meant that all the block work up to roof level is now in place. The windows were installed during the week and work on one of the gable ends has also begun. Thanks are once again due to all those who have turned out during their spare time and, as usual, at this stage any offers of help would be much appreciated.

Clubhouse construction update 8th March 2008
Another 2 weeks of favorable weather meant that the oversight concrete could be poured and facing brickwork could begin.Pete Tombling, John Briffett, Mike Dunks & Ted North have once again put in huge amounts of work whenever they could and it is clear that without this superb set of guys we would be nowhere with this project.
Saturday morning, 8th March and a few more old, but reliable, boys arrived to assist with the moving of tons of blocks ready for the inner and outer skins which will be hidden behind cladding. Doorframes have been specially made for the project to add more security and they were installed at the start of the day.
The weather was kind and the team managed to get the facing work finished, and the next phase of bringing up the block work will start this week. It is interesting to note that the average age of the team today was about 60!!!!.  Once again we ask that if you have some free time and would be prepared to support the building of YOUR club HQ then please get in touch with Ted on 01923 267736, every little bit of support would be much appreciated.

Feb 2008 Update
Clubhouse construction update. 21st February 2008
Excellent weather over the last 2 weeks has meant that building continues apace with Pete Tombling & John Briffett getting the subsurface block & brickwork installed without any issues. A couple of additional layers of bricks were required due to the fall of the land and the need to ensure that the doors can be opened! But all the brickwork up to oversight is now complete and the site is ready for the oversight hardcore and insulation to go in with the final concrete bed.

Once  that is poured and hardened,  it will mean that the next phase of construction will be 'Out of the Ground' and progress will be more visible to the passing traffic entering the venue. A steady stream of support labour has arrived all through the weeks with Mike Dunks and Ted North leading the way, ably supported by Steve Shaw, Arthur Tomkinson, Dave Porter & Pete Weight who arrive as their jobs permit.

Jan 2008
After 99 years and a few months, work has finally begun on the construction of our HQ building at Nash Mills. Club Chairman,Ted North was on hand at 0800 on Monday 28th January to open  the gates to member Tim Blackmore, and his team to start the clearing of the land and digging the footings.
This went smoothly with all the main services being found readily available and ready to connect up to. Fellow member, John Briffet arrived early on Tuesday to support Ted and by lunchtime, the footings were ready for pouring.

The end of Wednesday saw the concrete installed and the rest of the week allowed for the general grading of the sloping site and preparation for the setting out of the brickwork & drainage. Saturday morning dawned bright and dry and the first course of sub surface corner bricks was laid.

Progress has been fantastic this week and it is now all systems go on getting the building up to oversight level which should be done in a couple of weeks.
