Intermediate riders & 50/50..
what class should you be in ?
South Midland Centre ACU notice
Following some confusion over the 2010 rules for the Intermediate
and 50/50 championship series, the trials sub-committee decided
to make the following statement…
The 50/50 series can be likened to one side of a pyramid,
riders who compete on the 50/50 route are , or should be,
“older” experts on the “way down”
(no offence), or the more ambitious clubmen who like to ride
a more challenging course.
The other side of the pyramid should consist of the Intermediate
riders, all on the way up and striving to become experts.
”Older” experts on the way down must not enter
as Intermediates, they should enter as 50/50 riders
In non championship events riders who wish to ride the hardest
route may of course do so, but please do not put your status
as expert on the entry form as this often causes confusion.
Make it clear to the organisers that you are an intermediate
riding on the hardest route, however, you may miss out on
awards when you do this.
The South Midland Centre ACU sub committee hopes this clarifies
the situation, if anyone needs further details, please ring
the centre trials recorder,
Bob Twigg on…01707 880244 or.. E mail.. bobtwigg@ntlworld.com
Note:-
“older” experts and past champion expert winners
who no longer wish to compete on the harder route (effectively
on their way down in their trials career) will sign on
as a 50/50 rider or likewise the more ambitious clubmen
who would like to ride a more challenging course should
sign on and ride on the 50/50 route.
Intermediate riders, all on the way up and striving to
become experts will sign on as an intermediate and ride
the 50/50 route under the class of an intermediate. As
stated ”Older” experts on the way down must
not enter as Intermediates, they must enter as 50/50 rider.
